Your consultation
An opportunity to understand your options
Choosing a cosmetic medical treatment is a personal decision. The consultation is an opportunity to understand your concerns, ask questions and receive personalised medical advice before deciding whether treatment is right for you. There is no expectation that treatment will take place on the day, and many patients choose to take time to consider their options before proceeding.

Before your consultation
There is no expectation that you know which treatment you need
You do not need to prepare anything, but it can be helpful to spend a little time thinking about what has brought you to the appointment. You may wish to consider what specific change you have noticed, when you first became aware of it, whether it has changed gradually or suddenly, what outcome you are hoping to achieve, and any questions you have about treatments or your concerns.
Some patients also find it helpful to bring older photographs. These can provide valuable insight into how your features have changed over time and may help guide your discussion.
That is what the consultation is for.
During your consultation
Understanding your concerns
Every consultation begins with a conversation. We will discuss what has brought you to the clinic, what concerns you most and what you hope to achieve. Equally important, we will talk about what matters to you, because every treatment plan should reflect your individual goals rather than someone else's idea of beauty.
Clinical assessment
Next, your doctor will perform a detailed assessment. This may include assessing your facial proportions, skin quality, facial movement and the changes that have contributed to your concerns. Where appropriate, ultrasound assessment may also be used to better understand your anatomy and support treatment planning. Rather than focusing on a single feature, the assessment considers how different parts of the face and skin work together.
Discussing your options
Following your assessment, your doctor will explain the findings and discuss the treatment options that may be appropriate for you. This includes the expected benefits and limitations of treatment, whether treatment is appropriate at this stage, alternative approaches, potential risks and complications, recovery and aftercare, and expected costs. If treatment is not recommended, we will explain why and discuss alternative options where appropriate.
Making a decision together
Once you have all the information, we will decide together how to proceed. Some patients choose to have treatment on the same day if this has been booked in advance. Others prefer to take time to consider their options before making a decision. Both approaches are entirely appropriate. Our role is to provide the information, guidance and clinical advice you need to make an informed decision that feels right for you.

After your consultation
What happens next is entirely your choice
If you decide to proceed with treatment, you will receive a personalised treatment plan outlining the recommended approach. This is yours to take away, review and consider in your own time. If you have questions after your consultation, you are welcome to contact the clinic before making your decision.
If you choose to think about your options, you are welcome to return when you are ready. There is no obligation to proceed with treatment.
Appointment availability varies throughout the year. At quieter times, treatment appointments may be available within a short period, while busier periods such as November and December may have longer waiting times. If your preferred appointment is not immediately available, we will discuss the next suitable option with you.

Fees and cancellations
Consultation fees
Initial consultations where no treatment is performed on the day are provided at no cost. Initial consultations with treatment time reserved require a $100 booking fee, which is deducted from the cost of any treatment administered on the day.
At Atelier Medical Aesthetics, appointments are intentionally unhurried and dedicated exclusively to you. To ensure we can provide this level of personalised care to every patient, we ask that you review our cancellation policy before booking.
Rescheduling your appointment. If you need to reschedule, we kindly ask that you provide at least 48 hours' notice. Appointments changed with 48 hours' notice or more can have their booking deposit transferred to a new appointment.
Cancelling your appointment. If you need to cancel, please provide at least 48 hours' notice. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice will result in the booking deposit being forfeited.
Missed appointments. If you do not attend your appointment, or are unable to proceed without providing the required notice, your booking deposit will be forfeited. A new booking deposit will be required to secure any future appointment.
Arriving late. We understand that unexpected delays can happen. If you are running late, please contact the clinic as soon as possible. Depending on the length of the delay and the appointment schedule, we may need to shorten your appointment or reschedule it to avoid delaying other patients.
If you are unwell. Please contact the clinic before your appointment. Depending on your circumstances and the treatment planned, we may recommend rescheduling to ensure your safety and the wellbeing of other patients and staff.
Why we have this policy. Every appointment at Atelier is reserved specifically for you. Late cancellations and missed appointments make it difficult to offer those appointment times to other patients waiting for care.
Our hope for your experience
Our hope is that you feel comfortable from the moment you arrive
Walking into a cosmetic medical clinic can feel daunting. You may have been thinking about booking for months, or even years. You may have questions, feel uncertain about your options, or simply want an honest opinion about whether treatment is right for you. You will never be expected to know what treatment you need or feel pressured to make a decision. Instead, we will take the time to listen, understand your concerns and explain your options in a way that is clear and easy to understand. Because good cosmetic medicine is not about convincing someone to have treatment. It is about helping them make an informed decision.

Consultation questions
The practical questions patients ask before booking. If your question is not answered here, you are welcome to contact the clinic.
Before you book
What happens during a consultation?
Your first appointment is about understanding you, not selling a treatment.
Whether you are considering aesthetic treatment for the first time or have had treatments elsewhere, the consultation is an opportunity to discuss your concerns, understand your options and develop a personalised treatment plan.
We will talk about what you have noticed, what you would like to improve and, just as importantly, what you would like to preserve. Your doctor will assess your facial anatomy, skin health and medical history before explaining the treatments that may be appropriate for your individual goals.
Sometimes the best recommendation is to proceed with treatment. Sometimes it is to wait, monitor a concern or decide that no treatment is needed at all. The goal is for you to leave feeling informed, respected and confident in whatever decision you make.
Who is this consultation for?
A consultation is suitable if you are considering aesthetic treatment for the first time, would like professional advice before deciding on treatment, have concerns about ageing, skin quality or facial balance, want a personalised treatment plan, have had treatment elsewhere and would like a second opinion, or are unsure which treatment, if any, is right for you.
You do not need to know what treatment you want before you book. That is what the consultation is for.
Do I need a referral?
No.
You do not need a referral to book a consultation at Atelier. You can make an appointment directly if you would like to discuss a cosmetic concern, explore your treatment options or simply seek professional advice.
How long does the consultation take?
A new consultation takes 45 to 60 minutes, depending on whether treatment is administered. Most treatment consultations take 30 minutes. Treatments such as laser or RF microneedling take around 90 minutes, as we allow 30 minutes for numbing cream for your comfort.
Your consultation is designed to be thorough and unhurried, allowing enough time to assess your concerns, discuss your options and answer your questions.
How much does the consultation cost?
Initial consultations where no treatment is performed on the day are provided at no cost. Initial consultations with treatment time reserved require a $100 booking fee, which is deducted from the cost of any treatment administered on the day.
If you have reserved treatment time, your doctor will discuss any treatment costs with you before proceeding. You will always receive a personalised treatment plan and written quote before making a decision about treatment.
Can I bring someone with me?
Absolutely.
You are welcome to bring a partner, family member or friend if it helps you feel more comfortable, or you would simply like another person to be part of the discussion. Our priority is that you feel relaxed and supported throughout your consultation.
On the day
What happens during my appointment?
Your appointment is unhurried and designed to give you time to ask questions.
During your consultation we may discuss your concerns and treatment goals, review your medical history and previous cosmetic treatments, assess your facial anatomy and skin, explain the changes contributing to your concerns, discuss appropriate treatment options including their benefits, limitations and potential risks, and develop a personalised treatment plan.
You will have the opportunity to ask questions throughout the appointment so you can make an informed decision about your care.
How do I prepare?
You do not need to do anything special before your appointment, but the following may be helpful. Arrive with clean skin if possible: makeup is not a problem, but clean skin allows for a more detailed assessment. Bring a list of your medications, including prescription medicines and supplements, if you are unsure of the names or doses. Bring details of previous cosmetic treatments, including approximately when they were performed and, if known, what products or devices were used. Bring older photographs if there has been a gradual change you are hoping to discuss. Write down any questions you would like to ask.
To help us assess your suitability for treatment, please let us know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have recently been unwell or have an active infection, have a history of cold sores if treatment may involve the lips or surrounding skin, have recently had cosmetic treatments elsewhere, are taking blood-thinning medications or have a bleeding disorder, or have any allergies or significant medical conditions.
Will I have treatment on the same day?
It depends.
Some patients prefer to use the consultation to gather information before making a decision, while others would like treatment on the same day. If you have booked a New Patient Consultation with treatment time reserved, and treatment is appropriate, there may be an opportunity to proceed during the same appointment.
However, there is never any expectation or obligation to have treatment on the day. If you need more time to think about your options, that is completely appropriate.
Do I need to know what treatment I want?
No.
Many patients know what concerns they would like to improve but are not sure which treatment is most appropriate. Your consultation is designed to identify the underlying causes of those concerns before discussing the treatments that may help. In many cases, the treatment a patient initially enquires about is not the one that is ultimately recommended.
Making your decision
Is there any obligation to proceed with treatment?
No.
The purpose of your consultation is to help you make an informed decision. Some patients choose to proceed with treatment, while others decide to take more time, consider different options or not have treatment at all. Any of these outcomes can be the right decision.
Will I be pressured into having treatment?
No.
The purpose of your consultation is to help you understand your concerns and make an informed decision about your options. Some patients decide to proceed with treatment, while others choose not to. Both decisions are respected.
Our role is to provide honest medical advice and support you in making the decision that feels right for you.
Will you tell me if another treatment would be more suitable?
Yes.
The consultation is about finding the treatment that is most appropriate for your concerns, not fitting your concerns to a particular treatment. If another approach is likely to better achieve your goals, your doctor will explain the reasons and discuss all suitable options with you.
Why choose Atelier?
Atelier was created to offer a different kind of aesthetic experience.
Appointments are doctor-delivered, evidence-based and tailored to the individual. Recommendations are guided by your anatomy, your concerns and current evidence, not by trends or predetermined treatment plans.
Whether you choose to proceed with treatment or not, our aim is the same: that you leave feeling informed, respected and confident in your decision.
